[FOR FRIDAY AM] Exclusive: Why S.F. property owners in West SoMa want to pay extra money

Earlier this week, photographer Brandon McGanty awoke to find a homeless person sleeping in his entranceway. As he walked a few blocks to work in San Francisco’s western South of Market neighborhood, he narrowly avoided stepping in feces, and then saw a used needle at 8th and Tehama streets near his studio.

“It’s gotten to the point where the city is not taking care of this area,” said McGanty. “It keeps getting worse.”
