In a week when AT&T got challenged again by the Justice Department and saw its HBO get trumped by Netflix in Emmy nominations, this also happened:
•Three weeks after a British man told PayPal his wife had died at 37 and her credit account should be closed, he got a letter from the company: Her death, it seemed, was in violation of its contract. Howard Durdle read the list of potential consequences, including repayment of more than $4,000 in debt and even legal action. The San Jose company apologized and promised an internal investigation.
•PG&E said that President and Chief Operating Officer Nick Stavropoulos will retire at the end of September.
