Amazon value nears $1 trillion; electric planes; Musk’s roller skates

Soaring hopes

Since October, a mysterious flying object resembling a cross between a small plane and a drone has been seen over New Zealand’s South Island. Turns out it was part of a series of “stealth” test flights by Kitty Hawk, a company financed by Google co-founder Larry Page. The company and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern have now reached an agreement to test the electric, self-piloting flying taxis as part of an official certification process. The hope is that it will lead to a commercial network of flying taxis in New Zealand in as soon as three years.
